Putting yourself in another person's shoes can broaden your perspective and deepen your understanding of someone else's challenges. That’s exactly what our team did on September 19, 2024, when our Regina team members took part in Walk a Mile in Their Shoes, an impactful fundraiser hosted by YWCA Regina.
This annual event encourages participants to step into a pair of red shoes and take an awareness walk around the YWCA building and Lucy Eley Park, symbolizing a collective stand against gender-based violence. More than just a walk, it’s a powerful statement of support for those affected by domestic violence.
Our team members went beyond just walking and raised over $3,660 to support the YWCA Regina Isabel Johnson Domestic Violence Shelter, which provides 24/7 services to women and families in need. Avenue Living was also proud to sponsor the event, standing alongside our team as we take steps toward a brighter, safer future.
With half of Canadian women having experienced abuse, events like Walk a Mile in Their Shoes are crucial for raising awareness and driving meaningful change.
At Avenue Living, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. We’re incredibly proud of our team members who participated and grateful for everyone who contributed to this cause. Together, we’re taking steps — both big and small — toward a future free from violence.
